Did Harper know about McCain's Choice?

Certainly, one might question the wisdom of a campaign when the incumbent is a conservative party seeking to attain a majority over a weak opposition, given the massive democratic ebullience occurring just over the border, with its attendant slavering prose of the MSM.
Unless... Harper knew of McCain's choice prior to its announcement, and, correctly deduced the effect Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, might have on defusing the liberal momentum stateside.
The timing is interesting - while apparently McCain made his decision some time ago, though not publicly, Harper only recently began to make serious noises about a fall election in August. The timing would conclude the Canadian election prior to the American vote on November 4, at about the time when the American parties would be at their popularity peak.
To say that Sarah Palin has "re-dimensioned" the campaign is an understatement. Gov. Palin is an American wet dream for all who believe that commoners can be president, that women can too, that women can be feminine, with family, husband and still do the job. While Palin is untested in presidential circles, she's already earned her stripes as Alaska's most popular, no-nonsense governor. Her vice-presidential candidacy has been hailed as a major tour de force in re-vitalizing the Republicans, and absolutely stole the democratic thunder right after their "monumental" convention.
If Harper had wind of this and has structured his campaign to coincide, he's both daring and prescient. Gov. Palin may very well bring the presidency home for John McCain, and in doing so, may bring Stephen Harper his majority as well.
