"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” CS Lewis.

"It is the soldier..."

...
It is the soldier,
who salutes the flag,
who serves under the flag,

and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Making History in Caledonia

What has started as a simple call by two average citizens for the People of Ontario to come to the aid of Caledonia has become the Number One News Story in Ontario.

History is being made right here and right now. Average Canadians across Ontario are standing up against the complete failure by the OPP and our Politicians to uphold our Constitution, our Charter of Rights and Freedoms and to enforce the Criminal Code.

We, the people, will no longer sit back and allow our elected officials to write off another town because they are spineless. Fifteen years later, Ipperwash is still a place of Two Tier Justice and a place where people live in fear. Governments have come and gone in that time period and no political party is willing to deal with the repeated criminal actions of the Native protesters.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

This is the first Civil Rights Movement in this generation. Oct 15th is not the end but the beginning for the People of Ontario and Canada to take back control of their Governments. For far too long our leaders have called upon us to be asleep for 4 years, then wake up and vote them back into power, then go back to sleep.

Now is the time for you and I to have our voices heard. Now is the time that both the Media and Politicians will hear what we have to say. About 20 media outlets will be there to record the March for Freedom event. With so much attention Premier Dalton McGuinty and the OPP will have to listen.

How bad will the Empiah get before it collapses, totally?

Mother faces jail for swearing at neighbourhood yobs

By JAMES INGHAM (Last updated at 10:52am on 11th September 2006) Posted Daily Mail Oct. 14, 2006

A mother-of-two faces a possible prison sentence after swearing at yobs who have made her life a living hell.

For more than two years a large group of teenage thugs have hounded desperate Donna Appleyard who has had to endure relentless abuse, threats and vandalism.

But unbelievably, when the 32-year-old finally "snapped" over the constant intimidation and swore at one of her bullies she was arrested by police and now faces a possible prison sentence if she refuses to pay a fine.

Irate Donna, from Knottingley, in West Yorks., said: "To say I am furious doesn't go half way to explain how I am feeling. I am absolutely livid.

"I am so angry that I have been made out to be the criminal when all I have ever wanted to do is live in peace and quiet.

"You hear of political madness gone mad and police not concentrating on real crime - but this is unbelievable.

"I still can't believe what has happened. When I tell people they think it is a joke at first, but when they realise that I'm serious they become as disgusted as me.

Anarcho-Tyranny

In Praise of the First and Second Amendments

Fjordman, The Brussels Journal

In a true, totalitarian society such as the old Soviet Union, crime rates are usually low because of the crushing state control of all its citizens. Supposedly, street crime in Moscow in the USSR was rare, probably because the state itself was the biggest criminal. In contrast, in the European Union of today, which is not a totalitarian society, at least not yet, crime rates are booming in major cities. At the same time, authorities are stepping up censorship efforts, openly talking about media “speech codes” and aggressively slapping labels such as “racism” or “xenophobia” on anybody daring to criticize the immigration policies or pointing out the inadequate response to Muslim gang violence.

There is obviously a connection here: The less control the authorities have with Muslims, the more control they want to exercise over non-Muslims. As problems in Europe get worse, which they will, the EU will move in an increasingly repressive direction until it either becomes a true, totalitarian entity or falls apart. This strange mix of powerful censorship of public debate, yet little control over public law and order, has by some been labelled anarcho-tyranny.

Oh, to be in England...

While we're taking potshots at the Empiah, the following read derives from the LGF comments of the previous story:

Real Crime, Fake Justice
byTheodore Dalrymple

For the last 40 years, government policy in Britain, de facto if not always de jure, has been to render the British population virtually defenseless against criminals and criminality. Almost alone of British government policies, this one has been supremely effective: no Briton nowadays goes many hours without wondering how to avoid being victimized by a criminal intent on theft, burglary, or violence.

An unholy alliance between politicians and bureaucrats who want to keep prison costs to a minimum, and liberal intellectuals who pretend to see in crime a natural and understandable response to social injustice, which it would be a further injustice to punish, has engendered a prolonged and so far unfinished experiment in leniency that has debased the quality of life of millions of people, especially the poor. Every day in our newspapers we read of the absurd and dangerous leniency of the criminal-justice system.

Un-friggin' Unbelievable...

Schoolgirl arrested for refusing to study with non-English pupils

A teenage schoolgirl was arrested by police for racism after refusing to sit with a group of Asian students because some of them did not speak English.

Codie Stott’s family claim she was forced to spend three-and-a-half hours in a police cell after she was reported by her teachers. The 14-year-old - who was released without charge - said it had been a simple matter of commonsense and accused the school and police of an over-the-top reaction.

The incident happened in the same local education authority where a ten-year-old boy was prosecuted earlier this year for calling a schoolfriend racist names in the playground, a move branded by a judge “political correctness gone mad.”

[...]
"They told me to take my laces out of my shoes and remove my jewellery, and I had my fingerprints and photograph taken," said Codie. "It was awful."

After questioning on suspicion of committing a section five racial public order offence, her mother Nicola says she was placed in a bare cell for three-and-a-half hours then released without charge.

I'm speechless, and apparently, so is Britain. What a totally screwed up piece of turf.

H/T to LGF/Cjunk for this.
